William Harvey "Harvey" Johnson
1805-1902
The 1860 census lists Harvey as a shoe manufacturer living in Union Township, Union County, New Jersey.
His obituary in the November 3, 1902, edition of the New York Tribune read:
"William Harvey Johnson, ninety-seven years old, a descendant of George Washington's mother, died yesterday at his home in Union Township, N.J., where he had lived for seventy-six years. When the War of 1812 broke out, Mr. Johnson was a boy. He was a great admirer of General Jackson and a stanch Democrat. He was one of the few residents of this part of New Jersey who saw General Lafayette when he visited this country, and frequently boasted of having seen the United States engaged in four wars. Mr. Johnson married twice, his second wife dying two years ago, at the age of eighty-six."
